The Centre Region Council of Governments is accepting applications for the position of Commercial Building Inspector/Plans Examiner, for Centre Region Code Administration, which serves seven municipalities (population of 100,000) in Centre County.
This is a technical level position that includes review and examination of construction plans and specifications, and field inspection for new buildings and alterations to existing buildings for compliance with the Uniform Construction Code of Pennsylvania and adopted codes. This position requires coordinating plan review activities with registered design professionals, contractors, and the general public; performing plan reviews, and conducting related field inspections for commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and hazardous structures; preparing plan review correction notification reports; and assuring plans are reviewed in a complete, accurate and timely manner; conducting field inspections in an accurate and professional manner; preparing and issuing field violation notices; and performing all duties of Commercial Plans Examiner and Commercial Building Inspector as assigned.
It is preferred, but is not required that the successful candidate have a minimum of six years of commercial building construction experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related curriculum or equivalent. In addition, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to professionally communicate, both orally, and in writing with clarity and precision using email and Microsoft Office computer applications. Requires BOCA/ICC/PA-UCC certifications as Building, Accessibility, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy, and Electrical Inspector within two years of appointment in addition to UCC Building Code Official.

A valid PA driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
The position salary ranges from $63,249 to $75,898 DOQ
