For those inspectors & electricians that may be operating within its footprint (PA and beyond), please be advised that FirstEnergy has released the following notice (Oct 29, 2021):
“To help address current meter socket supply issues, FirstEnergy has temporarily waived its requirement that meter sockets be ‘side-wired’ for underground service connections. The new requirements can be found in the attached document (linked via button below). Please review the requirements and distribute this document to the electrical inspectors under your authority to make them aware of this change.
“This information is also available on our website. Access the link below then click on ‘Customer Guides for Electric Service’ to view the Customer Guides for each state in our service territory, as well as the new Meter Socket Specification Update.“
