Douglass Township, Montgomery County is looking for a qualified candidate for the position of RESIDENTIAL BUILDING INSPECTOR/CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER for the Building/Zoning Department

Reporting to the Township Manager, the Residential Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer will apply knowledge of the PA Uniform Construction Code, Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Township Zoning Ordinance, Stormwater Management, and other Township codes to daily tasks including administration, inspections, and enforcement.  Essential functions include reviewing permits and plans for code compliance; researching plan restrictions, court decisions, and property ownership; receiving, processing, and investigating resident complaints; and preparing written reports and official notices; conflict management and critical thinking skills are essential, as well as the ability to multi-task, effectively problem solve, gather, and analyze data, and make sound judgements.  The desired candidate is an efficient, detail-oriented self-starter with exceptional organizational and written skills.  Salary starts at $60,000 but will be adjusted based on experience and certification level.  Benefits include salary plus a defined benefit pension, comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, short-term disability insurance, and option to participate in a 457 Plan.  There is paid vacation, sick and personal time offered.
