Location: Lower Allen Township, Municipal Building, 2233 Gettysburg Rd, Camp Hill, PA 170122

Instructor: Darrin Wright, PA Housing Research Center (PHRC)

Description:  This training consists of two courses:   Class #1: Air Flow in Homes — Modern energy codes have placed an increasing emphasis on controlling air leakage into and out of residential buildings. To accomplish this goal, builders must execute a thorough air sealing strategy and proceed with verification through blower door testing. This session will provide a comprehensive look at airtightness in homes, including a look at the fundamentals of air flow through building assemblies. This discussion will include a focus on both code-mandated and above-code strategies that lead to a high-performance building.  Class #2: The Cost of Air Sealing — As Pennsylvania has adopted the 2018 and potentially transitions to the 2021 ICC codes for building enclosure airtightness requirements there may be a concern on what it will require to adapt to these new changes. One of the biggest concerns is what the cost will be to implement these new requirements. The cost of air sealing a home varies depending on the size, location of the home being sealed. Air sealing cost are also determined by the scope of the project, such as whether you intend to do the basement/foundation, attic space, or a whole house sealing. The final cost of air sealing may be also determined by current rebates and assistance programs from government and utility companies.

Continuing Ed:  The training is approved by ICC for a combined total of 3.0 contact hours and 0.3 ICC CUEs.

Registration:   Online only.  Registration closes May 13th.
