Willistown Township, Chester County is accepting applications for a Building Code Official.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Building Code Official (BCO) is responsible for enforcing Township ordinances, codes, and regulations related to building, health, and safety. This role involves reviewing and approving permit applications, performing inspections, handling complaints, and serving as a resource for property owners, contractors, and the public regarding the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and Township codes. The position requires a combination of technical skills and public interaction to ensure compliance with regulations.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
• Compensation range: $100,000-$115,000 annually, commensurate with experience and demonstrated ability.

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline preferred • Minimum of five years of experience in residential building code enforcement/inspection • Certifications: Current ICC and PA UCC Residential certifications (Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Energy) are required; Current ICC Property Maintenance Code Certification or successful examination within six (6) months of hire; Current ICC and PA UCC Commercial Plan Review, as well as Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical Inspection certifications and Accessibility/Plan Review certifications a plus; Fire Inspector ICC or Pro Board certification a plus • Valid class C driver’s license • Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction documents and associated specifications • Ability to deal with the public, contractors, and others in a professional manner • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing • Knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, and file methods and the ability to organize, arrange and establish internal building code records per PHMC guidelines • Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments • Experience using Microsoft Office suite; demonstrated ability to learn and use software including database software • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment • High level of professionalism, ethics, and an understanding of confidentiality
