Upper Darby Township is actively recruiting for a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. The incumbent will perform work involving plan review and site inspection of commercial and residential facilities. In compliance with the PA Uniform Construction Code, Township regulations, the incumbent will perform work that includes but is not limited to building inspections, permit application, report preparation, and record keeping.
This is a full-time position with a base schedule of Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm (with an hour unpaid lunch break).
Code Enforcement Officers/Inspectors are must have knowledge of pertinent construction codes, ordinances, laws and regulations pertaining to zoning, nuisance abatement, property maintenance, building, safety and related areas. This will require the ability to independently interpret and apply applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Requirements include a High School Diploma, trade school diploma or the equivalent; at least three (3) years’ experience in the Construction industry or closely related field; valid Driver’s License and clean driving history in order to operate a Township vehicle; computer literacy; and great customer service skills.
A thorough knowledge of Township Codes and property maintenance codes is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with an ICC and additional Certifications. Must be willing to obtain additional certifications which may be required by law or Township policy during course of employment.

Salary range is $45,000 to $65,000 depending on experience and certifications.
