Upper Darby Township is seeking a skilled and service-oriented Permit Technician to join our Licenses & Inspections Department. In this vital front-line role, you’ll help process permit applications, support rental licensing and inspections, and guide residents and property owners through regulatory requirements. This position plays a key role in supporting public safety and compliance through the effective administration of permits, licenses, and rental inspection programs.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Intake, review, and processing of permit and license applications (construction, rental, U&O, business, etc.)
• Support for the Rental Licensing and Rental Inspection Program
• Scheduling and coordination of inspections
• Communicating with landlords and property owners
• Accurate data entry, records management, and payment processing
• Providing front-line customer service via phone, email, and in-person

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of experience in permitting, municipal administration, property management, or customer service
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
• Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with construction and housing terminology
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and permitting software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Daily in-person attendance required (no remote work)
• Must pass background check and pre-employment screening
• ICC Permit Technician Certification (or ability to obtain within 5 months)
