Topic: Hoover Treated Wood Products

Description:  Fire-Retardant Treated Wood in the IBC and the Use of Wood in Construction.  This program is an in-depth discussion of fire-retardant-treated wood (FRTW) characteristics and building code related applications. Emphasis is placed on the testing, performance in a fire and labeling required by the International Building Code.

Course Objective:  Occupancies, types of construction, and heights and areas, from Chapter 5 and 6 of the IBC, will be covered. In addition, common code violations in framing and methods of repair will be addressed.  Topics will include types of preservative treatments and the required levels of retention, as dictated by the end-use application, desired service life and exposure conditions. AWPA Use Category standards and ICC-ES Report Evaluations will be reviewed, as well as code sections and examples.  Technical literature will be available to all attendees.

Continuing Ed: This training session is 6 hours and offers .6 CEU’s.
