PENNBOC REGION 1 TRAINING COURSE

Topic: 2018 IPC Backflow Prevention & Cross Connection Control

Description:   This seminar will introduce you to the backflow requirements that are included in the IPC. The seminar is designed to address the needs of code officials, contractors, installers, and plumber. The seminar will include information regarding the requirements for protecting the potable water supply from contamination. During this training, participants will be listening to lecture and viewing examples, as well as discussing the requirement noted in Section 608 and 312.10 of the IPC. They will participate in activities that involve discussion and knowledge review, individually and in groups. Goal: This course will teach participants the essentials of cross-connection control. The course will focus on the basics hydraulics which governs the principles of backflow and cross-connection control and the hazards of backflow and typical backflow prevention assemblies. The causes of backflow and case histories will also be discussed. The information presented is based on the 2018 International Plumbing Code.

Course Objective:

  • Recognize the basic hydraulics which govern the principles of backflow and cross-connection control.
  • Identify the hazards of backflow.
  • Site the required backflow prevention assemblies and when they are required to be installed.
  • Describe techniques to prevent the hazards.

Continuing Ed: This training session is 6 hours and offers .6 CEU’s.
