Bethlehem Township, PA is currently accepting applications for a full-time Code Enforcement Officer.

This position will be enforcing the International Property Maintenance Code and leading the Township’s residential rental/resale inspection program. The Property Maintenance Code establishes minimum requirements and standards for all existing residential and nonresidential structures, both interior and exterior. This code increases protection for both public safety and property values.

The position will report directly to the Director of Community Development. The position requires knowledge, skill and ability in enforcement of applicable codes. Candidates with experience in – or a desire to learn – residential construction plan review and inspections for UCC compliance are also encouraged to apply. Residential construction performed is subject to the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act including all codes and regulations incorporated into the PA UCC, as well as all applicable township codes and ordinances.

This position includes a full benefit package and a starting annual salary of $50,000 – $60,000, negotiable based on years of experience.

Education and experience: Education equivalent to completion of high school, three (3) years of technical experience in the building construction trades or in related municipal code enforcement work, or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience. Minimum license and certification requirements: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license. Certification as an International Code Council Housing and Property Maintenance Code Inspector or any subsequent inspector designation as provided by the International Code Council within six (6) months of employment is required.
