Bethlehem Township, PA, is accepting applications for Building Inspector & Code Enforcement Officer. This position will perform residential construction plan review and inspections for UCC compliance, plus related administrative and enforcement duties. Work performed is subject to the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act and the regulations (PA UCC) including all codes and regulations incorporated into the PA UCC as well as all applicable township codes and ordinances.

Additionally, this position enforces the Property Maintenance Code as adopted by the Township. The Property Maintenance Code establishes minimum requirements and standards for all existing residential and nonresidential structures, both interior and exterior. This code increases protection for both public safety and property values.

Education and experience: Education equivalent to completion of 12th grade, three (3) years of technical experience in the building construction trades or in related municipal code enforcement work, or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.

Minimum license and certification requirements: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license. Certification as an International Code Council Housing and Property Maintenance Code Inspector or any subsequent Inspector designation as provided by the International Code Council within six (6) months of employment is required. Additional certifications required within one (1) year of employment include residential building inspector, residential mechanical inspector, residential plumbing inspector and residential energy inspector (UCC Categories 10, 12, 13 & 14).
