PENNBOC Terms of Use and POSTING POLICIES

Acceptance of Terms. Use of this website ("site") is subject to the terms set forth below. If you do not accept any of these terms, please do not use this site. Your use of this site constitutes acknowledgment that you have read and accept the terms. We reserve the right to change the terms at will. New terms are effective upon being posted to this Terms of Use ("Agreement") on the site. Your use of the site after the posting of new terms to the Agreement constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.

Control. This site is controlled and operated by The Pennsylvania Building Officials Conference (The Company).

Purpose. The data on this site is for information purposes only and does not constitute advice. Before you use any of the products sold at this site you should familiarize yourself with safety procedures by attending professional classes or seeking professional advice.

THE COMPANY DOES NOT MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES REGARDING ANY OF THE MATERIALS, CONTENTS, GRAPHICS OR INFORMATION (REFERRED TO HEREINAFTER AS THE "CONTENT") CONTAINED ON THIS SITE. You acknowledge and agree that all content and materials available on this site are protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, patents, trade secrets, or other proprietary rights and laws. Except as authorized by us, you agree not to sell, license, rent, modify, distribute, copy, reproduce, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, publish, adapt, edit, or create derivative works from such materials or content. Notwithstanding the above, you may print or download one copy of the materials or content on this site on any single computer for you personal, non-commercial use, provided you keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices. In addition, use of the content or materials for any purpose not expressly permitted in the Agreement is prohibited.

As noted above, reproduction, copying, or redistribution for commercial purposes of any materials or design elements on this site is strictly prohibited without the express written permission of the Company.

Permitted Use. You may not use this site for any purpose other than in connection with your personal use as allowed by the terms of the Agreement. You may not do the following:

• Send unauthorized or unsolicited commercial email (including, but not limited to, junk or bulk email (also known as "Spamming"), chain email, advertising solicitations or promotions or any other unauthorized solicitation) to the email addresses provided on this site;

• Utilize any information contained within this website to solict one of the Company's clients;

• Transmit in any way and by any means through this site any materials which restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying this site; are unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, profane, or indecent; constitute or encourage conduct that is a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law; violate, plagiarize or infringe the rights of any third party including, without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, rights of privacy or publicity, or any other right of any third party; contain a virus or other harmful or potentially harmful component; contain any information advertising of any kind; or constitute or contain false or misleading indications of origin or statement of fact;

• Transmit in any way and by any means through this site any materials which victimizes, harasses, degrades, or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or disability;

• Take any action that infringes on any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity, or other proprietary right of any party;

• Transmit or cause to be transmitted a software virus or any other computer code, file or program that is designed or intended to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or to damage or obtain unauthorized access to any data or other information of any third party; or

• Impersonate any person or entity, including any employee or representative of the Company.

Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its employees, contractors, officers, and directors from all liabilities, claims, and expenses, including attorney's fees, that arise from your use or misuse of this site.

Choice of Law & Forum. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. You expressly agree that the exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or action arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use or use of this site shall be filed only in federal courts located in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and you further agree and submit to the exercise of personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purpose of litigating any such claim or action.

Severability & Integration. Unless otherwise specified herein, this Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Company with respect to this site and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals (whether oral, written, or electronic) between you and the Company with respect to this site. If any part of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, that portion shall be construed in a manner consistent with applicable law to reflect, as nearly as possible, the original intentions of the parties, and the remaining portion shall remain in full force and effect.

Posting Policies (& Procedures)

 

General  

All submissions shall be presented to the administrator in either a .doc file or a .txt file format.  They may also be submitted as plain, unformatted “text” within the body of an email.  DO NOT SUBMIT "GRIDED" TEXT. Requests in any other file format will be returned to the requester for reformatting.

Flyers or similar documents in .pdf format may be provided for use as embedded documents, or as links leading to downloadable files or as email attachments.  Pdf documents will not be altered. They may or may not be used as deemed appropriate by the administrator.

Content 

The administrator may, as deemed appropriate, alter format, sequence, punctuation, spelling or similar to achieve clarity of communications or general consistency with other material on PENNBOC.org.  

It is the requester’s responsibility to provide sufficient information so that readers receive all necessary information to assure understanding of the requester’s intent.   
Training and General Information/News Postings
When appropriate, and at a minimum, submitted information must address all of these traditional “W - questions”.  
  • WHO is the sponsor
  • WHAT is happening - training, regular meeting, special meeting
    • Title of event or training
    • Trainer/guest speaker name, title, affiliation
    • Special events - elections, etc.
  • WHEN is it happening - Date, time & duration (start time/end time)
  • WHERE will it happen - building name and room when appropriate, street address (for GPS locating) and contact phone # for lost attendees
  • HOW MUCH will it cost - Free or $/member; $/nonmember
  • Lunch arrangements - included or on your own
  • HOW and WHERE to register, i.e., send payments - SPECIFIC ADDRESS to send forms or $ via USPS
    • What to send (information, forms, payment, etc.) 
    • Who to make checks payable to - when applicable
    • Is email registration accepted - provide specific instructions & address for same
    • If email registration is accepted, and if there is a charge, how $ will be paid/collected
  • WHAT is the cancel policy when a fee is involved
  • WHAT materials to bring and/or WHAT materials will be provided
  • HOW MANY CEUs will be earned 
WHAT IS RECEIVED IS WHAT WILL BE POSTED, however, posting requests lacking critical information
will be returned.Headings as appropriate may be added. 
When no “reply to” individual is named, the submitter’s contact information will be provided.
The Administrator may seek validation from a region’s director or an officer if the requester is unfamiliar to the Administrator.
Preapproved Contributors
The Communications Committee may  establish a list of approved post sources, so that all info, notices, etc., generated by an entity on the list shall automatically be posted at PENNBOC.org. Upon receipt by the administrator, these items may be posted.Automatic Distribution as either web posting, email blast or both, as determined appropriate by administrator.

  • any PA ICC chapter
  • the PA ICC Chapter Coalition
  • PA Department of Labor and Industry
Typical and Approved Subjects
  • Chapter news
  • Training events of other than a commercially promotional variety

  • Educational opportunities submitted by (LIST OF ENTITIES)

Information submitted by other entities that is pertinent to the purposes and objectives of PENNBOC, as described in its Bylaws, and upon positive action by the Communications Committee Chairperson, may be posted or emailed.

PENNBOC now offers an email alert service that deliver's information to members' email inboxes.  An email alert can be sent to members in one or more regions or all members.  

Once prepared, an email blast message MUST BE APPROVED by the requester, prior to being issued..

This service is provided on request. There is no charge for this additional service.

Posting requests and requests for email alerts should be sent to admin@PENNBOC.org.  Requests will be acknowledged. 

 

Job or Help Wanted Postings

PENNBOC is a valuable resource to members seeking employment.  Job openings are posted in this area of the Members Section.
 
Posting requests may come from employers, members or other sources.  Unless the request originates with the employer, the request must be validated by the employer to assure that the information on PENNBOC.org is correct and consistent with the employer’s need, policies, etc.

Jobs are posted at PENNBOC.org as a courtesy and service to employers, and as a resource for members. PENNBOC makes no assertion or claim that the jobs posted are current, or that any potential applicant is appropriately qualified for any job posted.

PENNBOC has made a reasonable effort to assure that the information posted is accurate and timely, however, PENNBOC is not responsible for the screening, hiring or other employment actions of any employer.


At a minimum, the following should be included:

  • Job Title
  • Employer, Municipality Class (were appropriate)
  • Location
  • Primary Duties
  • Required Prerequisites Credentials & Experience
  • Where & How To Apply Info
  • Closing Date for applications
  • Employer Contact Info
