Education/Seminars

A Note about documentation of continuing ed training.

At least two agencies, L & I and the ICC, rely upon training event documentation issued by the training organization.

PENNBOC-issues CEUs certification in a letter format. This format has been reviewed and accepted by the The PA Department of Labor and Industry (L&I).

Thee two agencies have different ideas on the unit of measure for CEU purposes.

L & I recertifies code officials using "CREDIT HOURS". One contact hour in class = 1 credit hour.

ICC recertifies code officials by "CEUs". 10 contact hours in class = 1 CEU which can also be expressed as tenths of CEUs.

In order to reflect continuing education particiupation in units applicable to both agencies, PENNBOC provides both numbers (CEUs and hours) on every CE document it issues.

PENNBOC recognizes only one form of attendance validation: Trainee's original signatures on the PENNBOC provided roster. When a training event includes BOTH AM and PM sessions, a signature is required FOR BOTH. NO OTHER VALIDATION IS ACCEPTED.

==================

PENNBOC and all of the PIC4 participants have put in place a "member rate reciprocity" structure. This allows ANY MEMBER of ANY PIC4 group to attend any other PIC4 group's training events at the host group's published member rate. This includes the PENNBOC annual conference. Each PIC4 group determines how it validates membership in the related group.
