What are OSHA's FOCUSED FOUR

Recently a member asked, "What are OSHA's 'Focused Four' and why should I care about them?"

The Focused Four refer to worksite accident groups.

  • Electrocution
  • Fall
  • Caught - you are caught between things (all or part of you is squished)
  • Struck - you are hit  by something that is intentionally (or otherwise) moving on the job site

You should care because any of these four events can kill you. Remember, says Tom Barnowski, "An employer's 'immunity' from OSHA compliance does not wrap a sheild of invincibility around its at-risk employees."

How can I learn about these risks, how to protect myself and how to manage these risks?

PENNBOC is developing training to prepare you and your employer to protect your mutual interests. Watch for an announcement Spring 2012.
