On May 6, 2010 a Roundtable Seminar was held at 7:30 A.M. at the Brass Rail Restaurant – Various topics were discussed among the Code officials with one person at each table assigned the duty of spokesperson.  These seminars are held to insure that the Codes are properly interpreted and applied consistently throughout Region II.  There were twenty-six in attendance and all felt it was very beneficial and requested that one seminar in 2011 be held using the same format.

Building Safety Month was noted with State Representative Joseph Brennan attending a final inspection of Lehigh University’s new Science Center in Bethlehem, PA.  The focus of the inspection was ADA compliance throughout the building.  Bethlehem’s City Council President Robert Donchez was also in attendance.  The result of this meeting/inspection was that both state and local officials became more aware of inspections and how the codes are applied in a real world experience.

On July 15, Region II held an Executive Board Meeting in Allentown at Denny’s Restaurant.  It was reported that Region II membership stands at 153.  This is down from last year with a loss from the City of Allentown Housing Department Inspectors not renewing their memberships.  Ideas were expressed to enhance membership.  The PENNBOC Conference was discussed and the dates and location were presented.

A General Membership meeting was held at the Coca Cola Stadium located in Allentown, PA on July 29, 2010.  Fifty-three members attended two seminars and the general membership meeting held just before the Iron Pigs Minor League Baseball Team game began.  The two guest speakers for the seminar portion of the meeting were:  Power Fasteners and L&R Associates.
