PENNBOC History
The foundation for the Pennsylvania Building Officials Conference (PENNBOC) was established by a group of building officials in 1958.
This early organization of Delaware Valley building officials was formed to share common objectives and to promote professionalism. In order to establish a common bond among building officials throughout the Commonwealth, the birth of PENNBOC was achieved in 1959 with the adoption of the Constitution and Bylaws.
PENNBOC received the distinction and honor in 1962 as being the first charter chapter of the Building Officials and Code Administrators International. Once again in 2002, PENNBOC expanded its range and experience by becoming a Chapter of the International Code Council (ICC). Since the beginning in 1959, PENNBOC has become the statewide organization for code officials in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is part of ICC Region 7 which includes NJ, DE, MD, VA, and WV. PENNBOC is one of several PA based ICC chapters that convene quarterly with chapters from other states to discuss issues of common interest.
